CLE provided field investigations, design, permitting, bid and construction phase services for the Freeze Road improvement project for the Town of Barnstable, MA. CLE developed and oversaw the required subsurface exploration (boring) program as required to design and construct a new section of paved roadway that fully connected Freezer and Millway Roads. In addition, the project incorporated a combination of conventional and Low Impact Development (LID) design elements, including the design and installation of a new drainage system that consisted of a deep sump/hooded catch basin and outlet pipe that discharged into a new bio-retention infiltration basin as required to meet MA DEP Stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs) for stormwater run-off. Other improvements implemented as part of this project included removal/replacement of existing damaged paved roadway areas and installation of a small gravel parking area and stone apron to improve access to/from the existing grass parking lot that supports the public use of the local Town Marina. The project was completed on-time and within budget in the Fall of 2013.
