CLE Engineering Inc. (CLE) was retained by Great Hill Trust to provide the owner with a comprehensive rehabilitation design, proposed dredging, permitting and construction period services for the solid filled wharf. CLE provided hydrographic and topographic surveys, civil, structural, marine and environmental engineering in support of the rehabilitation and dredging. CLE’s design retained the stone faces of the wharf and addressed the sinkholes and loss of sediment by removal of the deteriorated concrete deck, repointing the stone faces, new fender piles around the perimeter, removal of fill and placement of flowable fill in the interior of the wharf. CLE’s knowledge of the waterfront and the regulatory process allowed the project to begin six months after we were initially retained by the Owner. CLE’s feasibility study, existing conditions survey, design, and permitting were coordinated to allow value engineering for the Owner, restoration of marine infrastructure and dredging to improve access to navigable waters. construction.
