Selected for its extensive waterfront design experience and capabilities, CLE Engineering was retained to provide permitting, engineering and construction management services for pier reconstruction and floating dock expansion to service dinghies, junior sailing program, transient boaters and launch service. CLE developed expansion plans that incorporated both pile supported concrete floats and bottom anchored timber floats. CLE also investigated the condition of the seawall and timber pier and gazebo and developed plans for repairs and reconstruction.
CLE supported the project through the permitting process and advocated for the project at public hearings. In response to agency concerns, CLE completed an underwater resource survey to verify that there was no submerged aquatic vegetation within the project vicinity. To address the portion of the 8’wide pier that crossed over salt marsh, a grating system was designed that was in keeping with the aesthetics of the Ipe timber deck and provided increased sunlight exposure for the marsh.
CLE successfully obtained local, state and federal permits including a reconfiguration zone. CLE developed contract documents, solicited proposals and worked with Beverly Yacht Club committee members to select a contractor for the project which was completed on time and within budget.
