The Town of Mattapoisett is planning to construct a Shared Use Path that extends from Fairhaven to Marion for a total of 4.2 miles. The first phase, which has already been constructed, runs from the Fairhaven/Mattapoisett town line to Mattapoisett Neck Road, where Phase 1B proposes to continue the path. CLE Engineering is providing surveying, engineering and permitting services for the Phase, 1B. This segment of the Mattapoisett pathway project is challenging as it crosses numerous wetland resources (salt marsh, barrier beach, coastal bank, and riverfront area), includes two bridges (totaling 1,800 lf+/-), retaining walls, and required an extensive alternatives analysis of routes.
CLE has successfully advanced the project to the 75% highway submission and is continuing to move the project forward towards construction. CLE’s experiences with both MassDOT and Federal Highway Administration standards as well as excellent working relationships with regulatory agencies have benefited the project. When complete, this path will be a regional asset for active transportation, recreational and public health as well as tourism.
