CLE Engineering was awarded a contract from the Town of Scituate, MA to provide engineering, environmental permitting, design and construction management for the dredging and expansion of a new 100-slip marina. The Town of Scituate purchased the 4.2 acre private property and seeks to provide enhanced public and commercial access to the town-owned resource. The challenges facing the project include raising the elevation of the site to accommodate frequent flooding, replacing the existing seawall, creating public access areas and maintaining a leased commercial marina operation on the site.
CLE worked with the Harbormaster’s Office, the Scituate Waterways Commission, the Marine Park Committee and the landscape designer to create a facility that addresses the environmental challenges of the site and the requirements of the Town of Scituate. CLE obtained local, state and federal permits to authorize dredging, travel lift pier construction, float expansion and reconfiguration and site improvements. The site, which was constructed in 2010 provides great public access as well as an operational boat yard and marina.
