CLE Engineering, Inc. (CLE) was contracted by the Kittansett Club of Marion Massachusetts
to provide the design and construction oversight of the clubhouse parking lot improvement project.
CLE worked with the Kittansett Club to finalize the parking lot layout and to design the stormwater drainage system. An additional crushed stone overflow parking area was developed on a previously disturbed area containing invasive species. The site provided a particular challenge due to its proximity to the shoreline of Sippican Harbor and traffic flow considerations.
CLE prepared a site grading plan and storm water management plan for stormwater runoff as
required by the Town of Marion Conservation Commission and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Stormwater Management Standards. The quantity and quality of
the stormwater runoff from the paved areas were treated using DEP’s Best Management Practices including vegetated Sand Filter/Organic Filters and a vegetated filter strip. CLE provided an Operation
and Maintenance Plan for the stormwater management system including a maintenance schedule
and an outline of responsible parties and owners.
CLE presented the project to the Marion Conservation Commission and obtained all necessary permits. The construction plans and specifications prepared by CLE were used for the solicitation of bids. CLE assisted the Kittansett Club with the selection of a contractor and provided construction oversight services.
