CLE Engineering was retained by Boston Ship Repair, on an ongoing basis, to perform annual conditions surveys providing clients with accessible depths to the graving dock. These surveys were done to the specifications dictated by the USACE for clearance surveys. Critical to the operation of the facility are the minimum depths of the access channel, this includes tracking areas of accretion and ensuring that no additional obstructions have been deposited within access channel.
CLE deployed a multibeam system capable of locating obstructions and developing a detailed image of the intake structures for the graving dock. Potential obstruc-tions are noted and provided to the client for further investigation. The intakes are checked to ensure that no major obstructions have been taken into the gate during dock operation.
