CLE Engineering, Inc. was retained by BEC Electrical to perform geophysical surveys and underwater inspections for the electric cable-crossing project after the initial cable had been misplaced and damaged by a dredge contractor. CLE was asked to locate the damaged cable, determine the existing seabed conditions and inspect and certify the final reinstallation of a new cable. CLE performed geophysical surveys, including bathymetry and side-scan sonar surveys to determine the condition of the existing seabed and to locate the damaged cable. CLE utilized PE divers to inspect the condition and location of the reinstallation of the new cable to ensure compliance with project specifications. CLE’s experience and ability responding to difficult waterfront construction issues permitted the contractor to successfully complete the project.
