As President of CLE Engineering, Susan oversees our offices with over 40 professional associates and a growing support staff. Susan has almost two decades of experience in civil and marine projects and her background has developed strong working relationships with both the public and private sectors. Ms. Nilson is responsible for the overall management at CLE, the development of business opportunities as well as the execution of projects. Ms. Nilson has a well-established track record in clearly identifying project needs, overlaying the skill sets of key staff and then successfully putting a plan into action. Her sharp, interpersonal skills, technical expertise and ability to conceptualize the client’s goals and objectives at the very beginning of a project collectively result in high performance, immediate start-up, and high quality deliverables.

CLE Project Highlights

Responsible for estimating and quantity take off work both during the bid preparation process as well as claim support services by quantifying change orders for numerous Central Artery/Tunnel Contracts in Boston, MA. Developed protocol for water quality monitoring and reporting during portions of the Central Artery Projects and the Boston Harbor Navigation Improvement Project (BHNIP).

Provided permitting and engineering services for shipyard and marina facilities to improve and expand their facilities. These projects have included dredging, travel lift piers, replacement of seawalls and bulkheads, expansions of slips, commercial moorings, reconfiguration zones, public access walkways and facilities. Prepared Marina Management Plans including storm water management and pressure wash systems.

Managed five years of design and construction oversight for the cellular cofferdams and pile supported concrete relieving platform for the Marine Commerce Terminal in New Bedford, MA. Recently completed, this facility is the first purpose built offshore wind logistics port in North America with the option for use for bulk cargo and container shipping.
